We are pleased to welcome you to Gleeson College.
Our College was established in 1989 and named after the late James Gleeson, Archbishop of Adelaide. As a faith-filled community we pride ourselves in fulfilling the College Vision through our Core Values, The Gleeson 10. They provide the foundation to all that we do as student, staff and parent members of our Catholic Co-Educational Community.
An education at Gleeson College provides its members with the opportunity to discover, develop and use their God-given talents and abilities in the service of others.
Our slogan,'Learning - Community - Mission', has great meaning to the College Community.
Learning -
Essentially, as a place of learning, Gleeson College strives to equip students with the personalised learning, skills and resilience to be the creative and innovative citizens required for our future world. To further this, the laptop to student ratio is now 1:1 giving each student the opportunity to develop to their full potential using the most modern technology.
Community -
As the College is located on the Golden Grove Secondary School campus, the facilities provided to students are unique to that of any in the state. A strong sense of community is prevalent not only in within Gleeson, but that of the campus through the use of the shared facilities and the TradeTraining Centre, which offers specialised training for students interested in the Electronics (Electro-technology) industry.
Mission -
Archbishop Gleeson's mission of service to others is always in the forefront of our minds. As a community we strive to, 'act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with God.' (Micah 6:8). Last year the college introduced the Northern Territory Immersion Trip, which gave year 11 students the opportunity to experience first-hand the necessities and marginalisation endured by Indigenous Australians living in outback Australia. This not only provided the students with the opportunity to serve others but empowered them to push for change in a world full of adversity.
The many leadership opportunities offered within the College promote our motto, 'With One Heart' and the continued development of the vertical house structure allows for the individual and inclusive development of identity. The celebration of academic achievement is recognised by year level through the top 10%, merits for individual subjects and perfect grade point averages.
Many specialty subjects are also offered as part of the College curriculum. The continuation of the Japanese and Italian languages and our international exchange program in partnership with colleges in Japan, allows for a greater understanding of their wonderful cultures. The Specialist Netball Program is in its fourth year and the World Football Specialist Program in its eighth. This program continues to develop aspiring footballers which sees Gleeson flourish as one of the most decorated football college's in the state.
We invite you to explore our website and discover the many opportunities Gleeson College has to offer.
